Tim Maiden, Lead Podiatrist
Timothy Maiden is the lead podiatrist with The Foot Practice and a visiting podiatrist at Raffles Rehabilitation Centre in Raffles Hospital, Singapore.
Tim’s vision is to modernise podiatric care in Singapore. By integrating the latest technology into his clinical practice, Tim has developed effective treatment plans to correct lower limb function and overall body movement. His goal is to help patients move better simply and enhance athletes’ sports performance.
Tim received his podiatry degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. With more than a decade of experience, Tim assesses lower limb biomechanics and gets to the root cause of misalignments in the body that contribute to pain and injuries. The recent addition of 3D technology at The Foot Practice complements his expertise in sports, as well as in the elderly and pediatric podiatry, to identify imbalances in walking and running gait. He incorporates other leading treatment techniques such as Shockwave and Dry-Needling to treat foot conditions and injuries, including ankle sprains, tendinopathies, metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuroma and plantar fasciitis.
For athletes, Tim’s knowledge of sports-specific conditioning identifies asymmetrical patterns in gait to help runners and other athletes train better and reduce the incidence of lower limb injuries. By integrating state-of-the-art technologies into assessments, every aspect of musculoskeletal movement can be evaluated to pinpoint the slightest imbalances that impede performance gains with 3D Gait Analysis. With data-driven clinical insights, Tim provides quantifiable clinical recommendations to adjust training programmes and rectify gait issues that can improve sports performance.
Tim also uses a variety of orthoses to align the body’s biomechanical movements. These devices range from simple padding and wedging to supplement footwear to custom-made orthotic devices that are carefully tailored to an individual to maximise comfort and optimise athletic performance.
Tim moved to Singapore in 2011, working at Tan Tock Seng Hospital before joining The Foot Practice. He has worked in Sichuan as part of a group of medical volunteers assisting in villages with Hansen’s disease. He regularly visits India, where he assists in the treatment of people suffering from diabetes and lymphedema in Kerala and Telangana, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. For all this work, both overseas and in Singapore, Tim has received the Cosyfeet Podiatry Award.
A keen sportsman, Tim is a keen and active runner, cyclist, and golfer with a single-figure handicap. He has trained for triathlons and other races in Singapore. These days, you can often see him cycling the ECPCN trail towards downtown or running in East Coast Park.
