Podiatrist are high-trained practitioners who examine, diagnose, treat and prevent conditions and symptoms of the foot, ankle and lower limbs.
A podiatrist treats a variety of foot, nail and skin conditions for adults and children:
- ankle sprains
- bunions
- cavus foot
- corns & calluses
- diabetic foot
- flat feet
- heel pain
- iliotibial band syndrome
- ingrown nails
- ingrown toenails
- knee pain
- metatarsalgia
- Morton’s neuromas
- pigeon toe gait
- Scoliosis
- Shin splints
- Plantar warts
During the initial consultation, a podiatrist will have a comprehensive discussion to better assess your symptoms or condition, including information about your lifestyle. An assessment will be made. Following an examination or 3D gait analysis, a treatment plan will discussed that may include, for examples, orthotic therapy, nail treatment, foot and lower limb strengthening exercises, or shockwave therapy.
Initial consultation fees range from $180.00 to $250.00 for first-time clients. Consultations typically last 30 minutes. Follow-up consultations may be required. Consultations include comprehensive discussion and assessment about your lower limb, foot or nail & skin condition and related treatment and excludes additional therapies such as 3D gait analysis, and products (e.g., orthotics, nail fungal treatment, etc.).
Your normal daily attire can be worn, but we recommend comfortable and looser clothing if treatment is necessary. For assessment of foot conditions, lower leg or back pain, please bring wear or bring along the pair of your daily footwear.
Orthotic therapy is a treatment to align the low leg and control of the function of your foot to help you move more pain free or prevent future or recurrent injuries. Whether pre-fabricated insoles or custom-made orthotics, these devices are inserted into the shoe to support a foot’s arch typically for people with flat or high-arched feet. Orthotic therapy can also help to alleviate lower back pain by adjusting foot and leg motion to realign the lower body. Custom-made orthotics will be individually manufactured available within 2 weeks.
Gait is the pattern or movement while walking or running. A 3D Gait Analysis is an advanced technology that addresses biomechanical imbalances or misalignment in the lower limbs that can lead to injuries. Through a 3D Gait Analysis, treatment recommendations can be provided to speed the recovery process, prevent injury, enhance sports performance, or footwear recommendations.
Shockwave Therapy is a technology that uses acoustic soundwaves to stimulate the body’s natural healing process to reduce pain and tissue healing. It is a non-invasive treatment that uses a device externally on the skin to target a wide range of lower leg and foot issues, including Achilles tendonitis, Morton’s neuroma, plantar fasciitis, ankle sprains, and metatarsalgia.
Podiatrist treat fungal nail and toenail infections that affect more than 10 per cent (and growing) of the population. Also known as onychomycosis, if a nail fugus infection is can spread to other nails. Nail fungal infections don’t typically go away on their own. A topical solution is used to effectively rid of the nail fungus.
Ankle sprains and strains are a common injury. Different treatment options are available to help build ankle stability and strength to prevent injuries from strengthening exercises to gait analysis to examine the biomechanical movements of the body.
A diabetic foot is a chronic condition that affects people with diabetes, and is a manageable foot condition that can be effectively treated by a podiatrist. It is categorised as either peripheral arterial disease or sensory neuropathy. An initial diabetic foot screening will assess the extent to which diabetes is affecting your foot with a treatment plan to reduce the risk of further complications.
With proper orthotic therapy with diabetic insoles, conditions such as recurrent diabetic foot ulcers, calluses, corns, etc. can potentially be reduced significantly through offloading and reducing pressure on the afflicted diabetic foot.
Ingrown nail and toenails can be a painful condition where the nails grows into the side of a nail bed to create swelling or irritation. It is a common nail condition that can be easily treated by a podiatrist by removal of the ingrown portion of the nail.
A medical pedicure is different from an normal pedicure that you may receive from a nail salon. A podiatrist will examine the foot’s skin and nail and provide the treatment to remove hard skin, calluses or prevent diseased or ingrown toenails.
